Troubleshooting for common issues, and how to reach us for anything else.
Installation
Make sure you're installing from Google Play on a supported Android device. If installation fails, check available storage space and that Google Play Store itself is up to date.
Permissions
Camera and Location permissions are requested the first time each feature is used. If you denied a permission by mistake, enable it from your device's Settings → Apps → Makkaddam GPS Camera → Permissions.
Camera
If the camera screen shows an error, tap it to retry. If the camera stays unavailable, fully close the app from your recent-apps list and reopen it.
GPS
If GPS shows "unavailable," check that Location is turned on at the device level and that you have a clear view of the sky — GPS is materially weaker indoors and near tall structures. Capture still works without a fix; the photo is simply saved without location.
Compass
If the heading looks wrong, move away from metal objects or magnets and recalibrate with a slow figure-eight motion — this resolves most phone compass drift.
Photo stamping
If a field is missing from the stamp, check Overlay Settings — each field can be toggled independently, and a field with no available value (e.g. no GPS fix) is left off rather than shown as blank or invented.
Projects & activities
Deleting a Site removes it from the picker but does not delete photos already saved for it. Custom activities you add are kept alongside the built-in list.
Storage
Photos and project data are stored in the app's private storage on your phone, and a copy of each stamped photo is saved to the phone Gallery album "Makkaddam GPS Camera" (turn this off under Account & Storage). If storage is full, the app tells you instead of saving a broken file. Before uninstalling, use "Back up all photos (ZIP)" — uninstalling deletes the app's own copies.
Photos not in the phone Gallery
Check that "Also save photos to phone Gallery" is on under ⋮ → Account & Storage. On Android 7–9, allow the storage permission when asked. Photos taken before version 1.0.4 can be copied with "Save to phone gallery" in the app's gallery.
Sharing & PDF
If the share sheet doesn't show an expected app, confirm that app is installed and set to accept image or PDF files — this is controlled by your device's OS, not by Makkaddam GPS Camera. To send many photos as one file, select them in the gallery and tap the PDF button.
App updates
Updates are delivered through Google Play. If an update fails, check your connection and available storage, then retry from the Play Store app page.
